Text Box: Celebrating Inspirational Words & Perennial Wisdom

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting our website!

“The people,” wrote Emerson in his 1844 essay The Poet, “fancy they hate poetry, and yet they are all poets and mystics.” Good poetry is a great gift of human cultures; it nourishes our mind and life, and without it we would be spiritually poor.

The Rumi Poetry Club was founded in 2007 on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of Jalâluddin Rumi’s birth. We celebrate the poetry of Rumi and other poets of the heart, nature, and spiritual life from around the world.

Rumi, the 13th-century Persian mystic, is currently one of the best-selling poets, and an icon of love, wisdom, spiritual life, and world peace. We strive to honor and introduce the literary and spiritual legacy of this great poet and similar minds and literary figures.

Rumi’s poetry is a map of the heart, it is an expression joy and ecstasy; it is a deep reservoir of wisdom and inspiration; it is the vision of an enlightened, liberated mind; it contains a rich imagery painted in words by a master who had integrated in his person literature, philosophy, and spirituality to a high degree. And like other great sages and poets in history, Rumi also speaks in the language of parables and metaphors. Our perspective of poetry in the Rumi Poetry Club includes all these aspects.

This website is our initial attempt and thus a work in progress. But we would like to improve upon and expand it. Your comments are appreciated.

Enjoy your visit! And visit us again as we will occasionally update this website.

Rumi Quotes

“Words are the shadow of reality. If the shadow can be attractive, imagine how much more so can the reality be.”

“Be like melting snow: Wash yourself of yourself.”

“The moment an inspiring thought enters your heart, appreciate it as a dear guest visiting you that day.”

“The world as a whole passes and perishes; you can truly live in each moment.”

“It is because the seed is concealed in the soil that its secret is revealed by the green orchard.”
